This site was thrown together over the space of a few hours after pondering different ways to structure things. By far the longest part of the process was waiting for the domain changes on the .org to propagate.
The database is simply a list of dates with flags to signify whether a particular country (England, Wales, Scotland, N.Ireland or Eire) observes that Bank Holiday and a brief note about what the date repesents. It will require manually updating every year, but since there are odd occasions where extra bank holidays are added, this is probably a safer bet.
After a couple of false starts with the design, I settled on a palette from kuler.adobe.com and a BBC-inspired layout for the site. There's plenty of SEO but not much content, so I will have to wait and see how it performs.
