Contak is a Conservation Machinery database listing all manner of equipment, machinery and even manual labour for use by those involved in all aspects of conservation. The site was launched in 2006 and is free to use.
Written in PHP and running from a MySQL database, the contents of the site are vetted by the Project Managers via a back-end CMS that gives them control over aspects of the website. Machines, their owners and the reviews left by others can all be amended before being allowed on the site, or removed from the database.
Since the Contak website has been folded into the Ecolots service the website is no longer available, however the site was selected for preservation by the British Library and is archived by the UK Web Archiving Consortium.
